Nikita Koshkin is one of the most famous composers for the classical guitar. His music has been performed by the most renowned musicians in the world. He was born on February 28, 1956 in Moscow, Russia. He started playing guitar in 1970 at the music school №28 in the class of teacher Vladimir Kapkaev. In 1973, he enrolled in the October Revolution College of music (now Alfred Schnittke College).

His guitar teacher was George Emanov. In 1977, he graduated from college. He graduated from the guitar department of the Russian Academy of Music in 1985, as the first guitar student of the class. Koshkin has taken part in many guitar festivals, and he has been a member of the jury at many international guitar competitions.
