Competition - solo guitar

The Guitar Art Competition has gained a reputation as one of the most famous and demanding international competitions for classical guitarists. The competition brings together pupils and students from all over the world, who compete in 3 age categories, in two stages.

In addition to the candidates who will be present live at the competition, a certain number of places will be reserved for online applications, i.e. a certain number of candidates will have the opportunity to participate in the competition with live performance – online, according to technical parameters and instructions that will be sent additionally to each registered competitor.

I             Junior Category: Candidates born in 2007 or younger

Saturday, June 5^th, Belgrade Youth Center, Americana hall                     

Two or more compositions different in style and character, duration 4-8 minutes

 

II           Middle Category: Candidates born in 2003 or younger

First stage: Friday, June 4^th, Belgrade Youth Center, Americana hall

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 12 minutes

Second stage: Saturday, June 5^th, Belgrade Youth Center, Main hall

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 15 minutes

                                                       

III         Senior Category: Candidates born in 1993 or younger

First stage: Friday, June 4^th, Belgrade Youth Center, Main hall

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 15 minutes

Second stage: Saturday, June 5^th, Belgrade Youth Center, Main hall

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 20 minutes

NOTES:

* Competition is opened to all interested candidates.

* For competitors from abroad, or from Serbia who do not live in Belgrade, due to the current situation regarding the Covid19 pandemic, this year a special possibility of online participation in the competition is open, without mandatory registration for active or passive participation in the festival, only with registration fee for the category to which the candidate belongs.

* competitors who perform live in the hall and those online will not be separated, but will be listened to and judged together within the category to which they belong.

* Online contestants will be listened and evaluated in real time, by connecting and performing live over the network, not via sent recording.

* Online competitors must themselves provide adequate technical equipment for signal transmission and performance at the appropriate time (links to recordings will not be considered).

* The prices for the participation on the competition:

Solo guitar: I category: 40€,    II category: 60€,    III category: 80€.

* The competition is open to public.

* Three different juries in the first stage and two global in the finals consisting of lecturers (participating in the festival) in II and III categories of the solo guitar competition will follow the competition and decide on the awards in guitar competition.

* The decisions of the juries are final.

* The list of candidates will be determined by picking names and will be announced on the June 2^nd, 2021(16.30) in Belgrade Youth Center (Festival's office), as well as on the official festival’s website and social media.

* At the end of the I stage (of II and III Category), on 4^th of June at 20:00, in Belgrade Youth Center (Festival's office), as well as on the official festival’s website and social media, the score list for all categories of the I stage in solo guitar competition will be announced.

* 5 candidates from II and III category will continue to compete in the second stage (finals).

* The candidates must perform the compositions by heart.

* The candidates cannot play the same composition in both first and second stage.

* Requested duration of the composition refers to the candidate’s performance as a whole.

* In case of exceeding the requested duration the jury has the right to stop the candidate’s playing.

* In case two candidates have the same score, younger one will be given priority.

* Money and other awards will be given to the winners of the competition on the 5^th June, 2021 in the main hall of Kolarac Endowment at 19.30h (awards for online winners will be sent by post). 

* The jury evaluation of all categories will be transparent and available to the candidates for the revision and conversation with the jury members, live or online.

* The Festival retains the right to make changes and to have its own method of evaluation, and the candidates agree with it.
