Competition

The Guitar Art Competition has gained a reputation as one of the most famous and demanding international competitions for classical guitarists. The competition brings together pupils and students from all over the world, who compete in 3 age categories, in two stages in solo guitar.

COMPETITION

SOLO GUITAR

Category I: Candidates born in 2009 or younger

Sunday, May 14th, Music School Vučković

Two or more compositions different in style and character, duration 5-8 minutes

 

Category II: Candidates born in 2005 or younger

First stage: Friday, May 12th, Music School Vučković

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 10 minutes

Second stage: Saturday, May 13th, National Theatre

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 15 minutes

 

Category III: Candidates born in 1993 or younger

First stage: Friday, May 12th, National Theatre

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 15 minutes

Second stage: Saturday, May 13th, National Theatre

Two or more compositions, different in style and character, up to 25 minutes

NOTES:

* Competition is open to all interested candidates.

* Only active, passive, or employed participants of the Festival have the right to perform in the competition, except for candidates competing in Category I in Solo guitar, that can participate in the competition without being active or passive participants of the Festival.

* The prices for participation in the competition:

Solo guitar: I category: 40€; II category: 60€; III category: 80€;

* The competition is open to the audience.

* Competition in Solo guitar will be judged by three different juries in the first stage and a global jury in the second stage.

* The decisions of the juries are final.

* The list of candidates will be determined by draw and will be announced on May 11th, 2023 (16:30) at Dositej High school (Festival's office), as well as on the official Festival’s website and social media.

* At the end of the I stage of II and III Category, on May 12th at 20:00, at Dositej High school (Festival's office), as well as on the official Festival’s website and social media, the score list for all categories of the I stage in solo guitar competition will be announced.

* 5 candidates from the II and III categories will continue to compete in the second stage (finals).

* The candidates must perform the compositions by heart.

* The candidates cannot play the same composition in both the first and second stage.

* Allowed duration of the composition refers to the candidate’s performance as a whole.

* If a candidate exceeds the time limit, the jury has the right to stop the performance of the candidate.

* In case that two candidates have the same score, the younger one will be given priority.

* Money and other awards will be given to the winners of the competition on May 14th, 2023, on the Big scene of the Kolarac Endowment at 19.00h.

* The jury evaluation of all categories will be transparent and available to the candidates for revision and conversation with the jury members, live or online.

* The Festival retains the right to make changes and to have its own method of evaluation, with which the candidates agree.
