Ede Roth was born in Budapest in 1948. He studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest and at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where he graduated in 1974 as a student of László Szendrey Karper. He subsequently gave numerous concerts as a member of various chamber ensembles. He is currently a teacher at the Egressy Béni Music School and Vocational School in Budapest and an associate professor at the Széchenyi University of Győr, teaching guitar and chamber music.

He was the founder and artistic director of the National Training Course for Guitar Teachers in Fertőd. He founded the guitar series "Guitar Music in Óbuda", the most important regular guitar event in Budapest. His students have won numerous prestigious Hungarian and European music competitions. Many of them are successful teachers at Hungarian secondary music schools and higher music institutions and well-known performers on the international music scene. He has given master classes in several European countries and his guitar transcriptions have been published by several Hungarian music publishers.
