After nearest 30 years of guitar playing there are moments in my life where I got the strange feeling there’s nothing else to accomplish anymore – but there always is.
Those are unconventional and unsatisfied words from the oldest Portuguese guitar player, António Chainho, considered by many as a master of this strange and difficult instrument, one of the oldest ones in Europe and without hesitations one of the fee capable of producing an intricate, warm and unique sound.
Unconventionality and dissatisfaction aren’t common feelings for people from a certain age on, but those are truly marks of an artistically desire and for António Chainho the aim to move forward in his career, regardless of the circumstances. In fact it seems that the world got no boundaries for those artists who made music and tolerance their lifetime love and mission. After Brazilian and African record experiences, two acclaimed projects by the main specialized press in the world music, Chainho’s travelled recently the Portuguese Guitar to India, producing a perfect marriage between the holy and the profane.
Lisgoa, the name of the project, is a cross musical venture between the cultural heritage of two of the oldest cities in the world – Lisboa and Goa, the ancient capital of the Indian Portuguese empire, and now a place of peace and future – and a starting point for a multicultural and passionate concert.
