Martha Masters

Guitar art festivalMartha Masters (USA) studied with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory. She also studied with Scott Tennant and completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern California.

She is the winner of many international competitions (the Guitar Foundation of America and the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition in 2000; the 1999 Paco Santiago Marín in Granada, the 1998 Tokyo International Guitar Competition and the 1997 GFA. Her recordings were released for Naxos and GSP.

Martha is the author of Reaching the Next Level, a method for guitar students. In addition to leading the guitar program and the Guitar Festival in Los Angeles, Martha teaches annually at the Guitar Workshop in Connecticut, and on WorkshopLive.com. Martha is also Executive Director of the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA), dedicated to supporting the instrument, its players and its music in the US and throughout the world. She has received critical acclaim as a solo recitalist, as a chamber musician with Duo Erato, and as a soloist with orchestras.

Recent concert seasons have included performances on concert series and at festivals in China, England, Denmark, Spain, Poland, Germany, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States.
