Göran Söllscher

Guitar art festival

Göran Söllscher (Sweden) studied guitar at the Malmö Conservatory and at the Royal Conservatory of Copenhagen. He started an international career by winning the first prize at the Concours Internationale de Guitare in Paris, in 1978.

He has toured all over the world – Europe, North and South America, China, Japan, Scandinavia – giving recitals as well as performing as a soloist with various orchestras. He regularly performs with all major Scandinavian orchestras, and has played with the Japan Philharmonic, Camerata Bern, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Göran Söllscher performed Concerto di Aranjuez at the International Hommage to Joaquin Rodrigo celebrating the composer’s 90th birthday in Madrid.

He regularly makes concert tours in Japan including recitals and duo concerts with violinist Gil Shaham and flutist Shigenori Kudo. As an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, Göran published 19 solo recordings, duo-recordings with Gil Shaham Paganini for Two and music by Astor Piazzolla with flutist Patrick Gallois. Göran Söllscher is awarded with the Royal Medal Litteris et Artibus.

Also is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
