Denis Azabagić (Bosnia/USA) performs concerts around the globe asa soloist, chamber musican with Cavatina Duo and with orchestras. Between 1992 and 1999 he won 24 prizes in international competitions, of which 11 were first prizes.

He has written a book, On Competitions, based on his experience during these years.

Azabagić has recorded seven CDs for international labels such as Naxos, Cedille, Opera Tres, and Orobroy as well as two DVD’s for the Mel Bay Company. Azabagić’s performances have been broadcasted live on the Radio (NPR, WFMT) and Television in Asia, Europe and the United States. He currently teaches at the Roosevelt University in Chicago.

The Cavatina Duo — Eugenia Moliner, flute (Spain) and Denis Azabagić, guitar (Bosnia) — play music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary periods. A high point of their concerts is music inspired by the folk traditions of their native lands of Spain and the Balkans.

The duo’s performances have been broadcast by radio and television stations in Europe and North America. Composers from around the world have been inspired to compose and arrange new works for the duo: Sérgio Assad and Clarice Assad; Carlos Rivera, Michael Karmon, Michael Djupstrom, Alan Thomas, Erik Otte, Alejandro Yagüe, Boris Gaquere and Vojislav Ivanović.

They have recorded three CD’s for Opera Tres, Orobroy and Cedille Records.

Eugenia Moliner has been acclaimed as a brilliant young musician by the British Flute Society magazine. She has performed with the principal musicians of the Chicago Symphony and Rotterdam Philharmonic, and has been featured on radio and television programs in Spain, the Netherlands, Taiwan and the USA. Ms. Her discography includes four CD’s.

She is a faculty Member at the Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University.
