Air is the abbreviation for French words
„Amour, Imagination, Reve“ which
represents determinant of their music.
Air published six studio, two mix and
one soundtrack, as well as 21 singles
with current „Sing Sang Sung“. The bend
was found in 1995, and their first album
„Premiers Symptomes“ was published in
1997. One year later, they released „Moon
Safari“, with „Sexy Boy“, „Kelly Watch the
Stars“ and „All I Need“. Air is influenced by
Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis, as well as
Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream. Author
duo emphasizes influences of Debussy, Rachmaninov and Stavinsky, as well as Serge Gainsbourg. Air wrote music for Sofia Copola’s „Virgin Suicides“, „Lost In Translation“ and „Marie Antoinette“.
They cooperated with Italian writer Alessandro Bariko and took part in artistic project of reading his book „City“ at the theater in Rome which produced unusual project „City Reading: The Storie Western“. French creatives are affirmed with short films and art installations. Airs renowned for their wide reaffirmation of the guitar in contemporary music.
