Costas Cotsiolis


Guitar art festival

Costas Cotsiolis has been art director of the Volos International Guitar Festival since 1978 (called the Naxos International Guitar Festival since 2006).

He's been professor of the Conservatory of Athens since 1977 and of the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki since 1981. In 1979, Costas Cotsiolis was awarded by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Greece. In 1987 he published his book for guitar technique, The Virtuose Guitarist.

In 1998 he became an Honorary Citizen of Dallas (Texas). Since 2008 he is professor also of the University of Indianapolis. He has cooperated with great symphonic orchestras: the Broadcasting of Frankfurt, Paris, BBC, Junge Deutsche Philarmonie, the symphonic orchestra Queen Sofia of Madrid… He has as well appeared in the biggest guitar festivals of the world. C. Cotsiolis played with artists like J. Williams, J. Mc Laughlin, M. Farantouri, J. A. Rodriguez, Al di Meola, Vicente Amigo… Great guitar composers like L. Brouwer, E. Cordero, S. Assad, D. Bogdanović, A. García Abril have dedicated their works to him.
